DIY Laundry Soap

I found this post on the How Does She? website! Of course, I tweaked it a bit, but in my opinion it's tried and true because I have passed it along to others who truly enjoy it! :)

DIY Laundry Soap (Dry)

1 (4 lb 12 oz) Box of Borax- Detergent aisle
1 (3 lb 7 oz) Box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda- Detergentaisle
1 (3 lb) Container of OxyClean- Detergent aisle.
2 (14.1 oz) Boxes of Zote - Detergent aisle (if you can't find it already grated you can do it yourself by slicing 2 bars into pieces, microwaving for a minute, then crumbling into tiny bits)
1 (4 lb) Box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda- Cooking aisle (or the 2 lb box if you can't find the 4 lb)
3-2 (55 oz) Bottles of Purex Crystals Fabric Softener-  Detergent aisle (you can use 1 if you want to, but I added 3 for smell!)
5 gallon bucket - Lowe's in the paint aisle

Start by opening all your boxes & containers  (that's easy enough, right?)
Start layering each thing, little dab of each at a time.
Get a big wooden spoon and mix it, or your hands. Whichever works!
After it's good and mixed together, it's ready to use!

All you need to wash clothes now is to add 2 tablespoons to each load! That;s it!  You can either keep your new soap in the 5 gallon bucket (if you bought a lid that is) or you can distribute it into other plastic containers.  I personally used all 3 Purex bottles, the Oxy jug, a gallon milk jug, and something else.  This makes enough to last you a year or more!

Everything costs under $30! For a years worth of laundry detergent! Score!

If you have an easier suggestion/comment, please leave it in the comments!  Happy detergent-making! :)
